CANCELLATIONS:
1. Bookings cancelled between 28 days and 14 days before the tour/activity
departure date will incur a 50% cancellation fee.
2. Bookings cancelled less than 14 days before the departure date
will incur the full charge of the tour/activity.
3. Extreme Scene will not be held responsible for any loss or damage
that may occur on the tour/activity.
5. Extreme Scene reserves the right to cancel any tour/activity without prior notice.

BOOKINGS:
1. Bookings shall be deemed to have been concluded in Cape Town, South Africa
and shall be interpreted according to the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
Legal action shall be undertaken in the Supreme Court of the Western Cape.
2. Prices may be subject to change without prior notice.
3. No booking can be taken as confirmed unless we have credit card details.
4. No Payment will be taken until day of the trip. Payment will only be taken from the card if
the client cancels the trip within the timeframe specified under the cancellation policy.

WEATHER:
1. Inclement weather may cause alterations to the tour/activity itinerary;
Extreme Scene will not be held liable in any way for these possible occurrences.
2. In the case of inclement weather preventing any activities from being run
Extreme Secene reserves the right to move that activity to another day,
combine it with existing itinerary activities or to substitute that activity
with an activity of an equivalent value.

INSURANCE:
1. Comprehensive travel and cancellation insurance is required for all clients on
this adventure tour/activity. It is the client’s responsibility to ensure that they have this
paperwork. Resulting costs from not having this paperwork is the clients sole responsibility.

INDEMNITY:
1. All clients must sign an indemnity form prior to the departure date of the tour/activity;
no client will be allowed to commence a tour/activity
without having signed an indemnity form.
2. Although every precaution is taken on tour/activity to ensure all clients safety,
Extreme Scene accepts no responsibility for any death or injury or loss to any
person as a result of any reasons whatsoever.
3. The client realises that to participate in these adventure activities he/she may require a
measure of physical fitness and no heart condition, it is the client’s obligation to ensure
that he/she is medically fit to embark on this tour/activity.

Legal implications
I understand and accept that Extreme Scene acts herein merely as a facilitator and that it accepts no responsibility and incurs no liability whatsoever for the activities, actions or omissions of the operator of the events booked for through this website.I agree that I shall have no claim of any nature whatsoever against Extreme Scene for any loss, inconvenience, damage, injury or the like suffered as a result of this booking or the event booked for.

Participation of minors
Participation by the under-18 age group on tours/activities can be done only under the authority of a legal guardian. Extreme Scene has the right to refuse participation and/or cancel any ticket should this not be complied with.

Declaration by purchaser
I, the client booking the trip hereby declare that I have read and accept unconditionally the rules and contents of this disclaimer and are aware that participation is at my/our own risk.

Parker Cottage is named after a rather enigmatic and multi-faceted figure, Scottish architect John Parker. This original Victorian cottage was not only designed and built by him but he also lived in it for a while. He was also very briefly the first mayor of greater Cape Town (1913 – 1915). Numbers 1 and 3 Carstens street were completed in 1895.

John Parker was active in civic and church affairs. He became mayor of Cape Town in 1913 and was a founder member of the South African Society of Architects and the Cape Institute of Architects. He designed many of Cape Town’s landmark buildings, particularly schools. His firm (Parker and Forsyth) designed and built the Observatory Girls School, Rhenish School Stellenbosch, Sea Point Girls School, Sea Point Boys School, the South African College School (SACS), Hugenot School Wellington, and the Wynberg Girls School. When the British Hotel was completely destroyed by a fire in 1841, the design was done by John Parker, with construction completed in 1897.

One of his most famous buildings is the Great Synagogue in the Company’s Gardens.

Parker was one of the first architects to use locally dressed Table Mountain sandstone as a building material. This is evident in the Observatory School. Parker made his name by managing to fit a lot of space into urban buildings, while retaining impressive frontages. The long corridors, halls and high ceilings he used are similar other Victorian buildings of the time.
